winter parking

winter parking

We spent the weekend organizing the mobile condo and the trailer. Even after all the purging we did before the move, we still managed to pack several more boxes of things to give away. It feels good to continuously find more that we can have if we want but prefer to live without. Aside from being incredibly busy and not having much time for blogging, we're happy and having lots of fun. How are you?

That's all for now. I'll leave you with some photos of our winter parking spot.

  1. I always wanted to reside behind a chain link fence...but enough of my kinky moments...it looks great!

  2. Terrible. And angry. I'm searching for an apartment right now. Suffice it to say that in this city of 800,000 there have been a total of about 400 rental apartment units built in the last quarter century. This from looking comprehensively at all the building permit records at the library.

And now it's Big surprise, there's a housing crisis! Prices are through the roof! The homeless shelters are overflowing (and have been for >2 years). I'm being faced with 900-940 a month after heating (electric!) for the very cheapest apartment available right now.

I could build a nice tinyhouse for about a year's rent, avoid the asshole landlords, noise form neighbors, live close to work, have some security of tenure, and own the place I live in.

But it's Not Allowed. For The Greater Good, And Has Nothing At All To Do With Artificially Jacking Up Housing Prices And Increasing Profits, Oh, Goodness, No, That Would Never Happen, Not Ever, Nope Nope.

    Bastards.

Sounds like it's time to stop following the rules. Maybe somebody would let you park on their land and keep it a secret to protect both your interests. Especially since times are tough and many could really be benefit by taking on a low maintenance backyard tenant even if it's only a few hundred dollars/month. According to local laws/codes/etc., we're not technically allowed be be living at our winter parking location either.
